General Introduction
According to Ayurveda Samhita, there are three types of Koshtha based on digestive fire,mrudu- madhyam-krura koshtha. Out of these, patients with madhyam koshtha require very less laxatives, while patients with cruel compartment require very strong laxatives, while patients with madhyam koshtha are mostly troubled by chronic constipation caused by Kapha and Vayu dosha, and this effective medicine has been prepared as a panacea for chronic constipation.
Ingredients: (Each 500 mg film coated tablet contains)
- Erand bhrusht haritaki – 350 mg
- Ajmodadi churna – 100 mg
- Yava kshar – 15 mg
- Trivrut – 35 mg Bhavana dravya :
- Haritaki kashay – 2 times

Medicinal Analysis:
Erand Bhrist Haritaki:
This is one of the most famous Shastra Kalpas for removing Kapha-Vata Vibhandha (obstruction) since many years, which all the Vaidyas use in abundance. Both castor oil and Haritaki are rejunuvation properties. Due to its natural oil, it is very helpful in maintaining the natural moisture of the large intestine. Both of them are Kapha-Vata shamak, Vatanulomaka and Sukh-virechaka, which helps in removing the obstruction as well as Vata roga and poor digestion.
Ajmodadi Churna:
This is the most famous medicine for poor digestion, Kapha-Vata gulma and rheumatism. It has the property of curing abdominal pain, which alleviates the problems caused by other laxatives. Besides, it is a stool purifier and gas-relieving and is helpful in curing chronic constipation.
Yavakshar:
Being alkaline, it is helpful in curing the excessive acidity produced in the stomach, due to which it is found to be suitable in curing the problems of saman vayu, digestive pitta and apan vayu. Minerals
are found in abundance in it. Being salty in nature, it removes the fear of dehydration caused by excessive excretion.
Trivrit:
According to Acharya Charak, in chapter 25 of Charak Sutrasthan, it is written about Trivrit that “Trivrit Sukhavirechananaam” it means that this substance is the best in removing the blockage without any trouble. Especially its excretion is considered to be the best in abdominal diseases, gout, rheumatism, asthma, cough and all Kapha-Vata diseases.
Bhavana Dravya :
As per the principle of “Mardanam Gunavardhanaam” of Ayurvedic sages, this formulation has been made more effective by adding the spirit of Haritaki Kashaya which is very useful in enhancing the ability to cure chronic constipation.
Dosage :
1-2 tablets twice in a day or As directed by physician
